Health Education


The capacity for target communities to provide health care has been enhanced by MWO’s HIV/Aids program. This program has provided counseling, home health-care, furthered awareness and advocacy, provided basic assistance for HIV/Aids patients (food, clothing), and provided community-screening clinics. The reproductive health education program has provided educational workshops within target communities. MWO seeks to build on the reproductive health projects already launched in 2009.  

Advocacy

The ability of communities to increase awareness and support for MWO will be enhanced by the distribution of publications including journals, year-planner listing MWO activities, and products advertising MWO throughout the community. Future projects seek to distribute an e-letter to online contacts, further advocating for MWO activities.  

Sustainable Development

The capabilities of community members will be enhanced by knowledge and skills training on building sustainable communities, with the goal of self-reliance through programs such as organic farming, clean water supplies, and renewable energy production, savings groups (micro-credit program), pig-banks (community animal raising), and handicraft-making through the Co-operative Shop.

Management

The ability of MWO members and staff to effectively manage the various programs MWO supports will be enhanced by the use of our monitoring & evaluation methodology, technical support and other management tools.

Skills and Development

The ability of MWO members to access and utilization of education, knowledge and skills will be enhanced by (1) raising awareness through trainings and workshops on the topic of gender, leadership, development, micro-credit, summer English school, Early Child Care Development (ECCD), reproductive health and human rights etc……..(2) the Nursery School Programme, Internship Programme, and Computer Training.

key activities

The target area of MWO is Mon State, Myanmar, focusing on Mon villages from Tavoy District, Mawlamyine District, and Thaton District.

Objectives

 ¨     For women to be included in every section of communal activities, and to be upgraded in terms of leadership skills, knowledge and awareness.
           ¨     To eliminate discrimination against women until there is the rights of women are fully guaranteed.
          ¨     To organize all women so as to build a unified strength for gaining national freedom.
          ¨     For women’s activities to be included in the networks of other organizations.
